Policy Regime Change

The U.S. and China agreed yesterday to suspend their respective tariffs for 90 days and continue negotiations.

At talks in Geneva, the U.S. agreed to reduce tariffs on Chinese imports to 30 percent from 145 percent, while China lowered its import duty on U.S. goods to 10 percent from 125 percent.

The 20% difference is left on as an incentive to China to control fentanyl production moving through other countries to the US.

  • Why tariffs form the legislative basis to pass the US corporate tax cuts in July 2025.
